RBCC BUSINESS SUMMIT 2007
LONDON 6-7 June 2007
The RBCC Business Summit 2007 (6-7 June) saw an even better
turnout by Russian and British participants than in previous
years – in spite of its proximity in timing to the St Petersburg
Economic Forum and the rumoured embargo on Russian participation
in London events.
The programme started with a reception at the magnificent
National Portrait Gallery beside Trafalgar Square. RBCC members
and guests took the opportunity to mingle and make new contacts
amid the great portrait collection. A separate floor of the
gallery was set aside for the RBCC Summit VIP dinner, a private
forum for the most senior guests and sponsors to debate in
further detail topical issues concerning Russo-British trade and
relations.
The next morning, a plenary session was followed by three
simultaneous specialist seminars - the ever-popular ‘Annual FDI
Review and Prospects’; as well as ‘Natural Resources in Russia:
is the best yet to come?’ and ‘Special Economic Zones: turning
point or talking point?’, which discussed the relatively new
phenomenon of Russian SEZs.
This intensive morning gave the RBCC Summit its distinctively
practical business-to-business focus, with participants able to
discuss in depth the real successes and challenges of business
between UK and Russia.
The Summit was rounded off by the RBCC Annual Lunch, addressed
this year by Prof Tim Congdon with a thought-provoking overview
of modern energy realities and their implications in a
Russian-European context. RBCC also said farewell to outgoing
RBCC Executive Director, Godfrey Cromwell.
